1. Applicants must be Pakistani/AJK nationals who are currently studying or working at an institution recognised by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.
2. Candidates must have a minimum of sixteen years of education (MSc, MA, MBA, ME, MS, B.E / BSc (Engg), M.B.B.S or equivalent) in a relevant field.
3. Students with MS level qualifications and research experience will be at an advantage.
4. Candidates should have graduated within the last 2 years.
5. Candidates should have first division marks throughout their academic career.
6. Candidates must meet Queen Mary’s standard English requirements – IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
7. Candidates must be able to support themselves financially either through personal finance or through support from their institution. UKBA guidelines state that living expenses in central London are £9,600 per year.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur offers foreign scholarships under its faculty up-gradation program to academically outstanding, research oriented scholars, who desire to improve their academic qualification. This PhD Program is available in the following departments:

Award of Scholarships, Medals and Prizes Rules
For DAE , DDM, D.Com , DBA, Matric Tech & Matric (Voc)
All awards shall be made on the result of an Annual Examination. No award shall be made on the result of Supplementary / Compartment Examinations.
Only those candidates shall be entitled to an award who take and pass the Annual Examination as a whole at one and the same sitting/attempt in all the examinations i.e 1st , 2nd & 3rd year.
For determining merit , marks in the optional subject shall also be counted.
When two or more candidates are bracketed together, the award shall be made to all the bracketed candidates.
All scholarships awarded by the Board shall be considered as National Talent Scholarships.
The total number of scholarships for the examinations of the Board, value and conditions governing each scholarship, shall be such as may be determined by the Board from time to time.
The Scholarship of a student who fails to show satisfactory performance as reported by the Principal shall be cancelled unless the Chairman is satisfied that the causes of a failure were beyond the control of the student.
No student shall be eligible for two scholarships at a time.
If the winner of scholarship did not join a recognized institution or his scholarship was forfeited for any reason, it would be granted to the next candidate on merit. If the next candidate on merit be in receipt of some other scholarship, he would be given the choice to accept Board's scholarship by relinquishing the other scholarship or to retain his previous scholarship and refuse to accept the Board's scholarship.
A Gold Medal shall be awarded every year to a candidate who secures 1st Position and obtains eighty percent or more marks in each Technology / Discipline.
The Chairman shall be authorized to approve the design of the medals.
Medal shall be delivered ordinarily to the candidates in the ceremony or through the Heads of the institutions concerned
The Medals shall ordinarily be given to the candidates within six months of the declaration of the result.

Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi, provides unique opportunity to enterprising young women of Pakistan for academic growth and professional development. Under Phase I of its Human Resource Development (HRD) Program, FJWU has already awarded a number of overseas scholarships for Ph.D. studies to highly competitive women round Pakistan. The Phase II of University’s HRD Program also provides equal opportunity to compete for overseas doctoral degree studies scholarships.
Candidates who already hold any other HEC scholarship offer are NOT eligible to apply.
The Phase II awards are offered in the following disciplines:

Eligibility Criteria:
Pakistani/AJK nationals (females only);
Degree level qualification from a recognized university with minimum sixteen years of education (4 year Bachelor’s, two year Master’s and higher, all three categories are eligible);

Admission offer letter from a HEC recognized overseas university;
GRE/GAT (general) valid test certificate or proof of enrollment.
Age not exceeding 40 years on January 12, 2010. This concession is only permissible for permanently employed teachers and researchers in public sector universities/degree level colleges and R&D organizations respectively. The upper age limit for all other qualifying candidates is 35 years.
Application Procedure:
The application forms, @ Rs.600 each, should be obtained from the main branches of First Women Bank Ltd (FWBL) in Peshawar, Karachi, Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The application form complete in all respects must reach to the Registrar’s office of the Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi till January 12, 2010. A candidate employed in the public sector must attach with the application form No Objection Certificate (NOC) duly issued by her parent organization. Incomplete applications and/or applications without GRE/GAT (general)valid test certificate/proof of enrollment will not be entertained.
Conditions for Final Award:
* Selected candidates will be required to appear before FJWU Selection Board for induction as permanent faculty members;
* Selected candidates, if recommended for permanent induction, will be required to join FJWU within four weeks of the formal offer of appointment;
* The offer of permanent appoint will remain valid only if the HRD scholarship is availed within the stipulated time limit;
* The award covers overseas tuition fee, onetime round single person travel as well as single person maintenance cost for a stipulated duration of doctoral studies. Therefore, before proceeding for overseas studies, all awardees will be required to sign a 5 year service bond with FJWU after the successful completion of doctoral degree. Defaulters and unsuccessful awardees will be liable for full cost recovery under the terms and conditions of the service bond.
