Queen Mary is keen to contribute actively to the development of Pakistan’s higher education sector and is pleased to announce the creation of two Queen Mary, University of London – Pakistan Capacity Building Scholarships. Each of these scholarships will provide full tuition fees for full time MPhil/PhD study at Queen Mary in one of the following areas:
Biological and Chemical Sciences
Computer Science
Electronic Engineering
Engineering
Materials
Mathematical Sciences
Physics
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be Pakistani/AJK nationals who are currently studying or working at an institution recognised by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.
2. Candidates must have a minimum of sixteen years of education (MSc, MA, MBA, ME, MS, B.E / BSc (Engg), M.B.B.S or equivalent) in a relevant field.
3. Students with MS level qualifications and research experience will be at an advantage.
4. Candidates should have graduated within the last 2 years.
5. Candidates should have first division marks throughout their academic career.
6. Candidates must meet Queen Mary’s standard English requirements – IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
7. Candidates must be able to support themselves financially either through personal finance or through support from their institution. UKBA guidelines state that living expenses in central London are £9,600 per year.

foreign scholarships
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur offers foreign scholarships under its faculty up-gradation program to academically outstanding, research oriented scholars, who desire to improve their academic qualification. This PhD Program is available in the following departments:
1. Commerce
2. Education\Educational Training
3. Engineering
4. Fine Arts
5. Media Studies
These Scholarships are open to existing employees/faculty with at least three years of service at IUB including contract service period.
Scholarship will cover the tuition fee, books, maintenance & living allowance and return air fare once.
Eligibility Criteria for PhD or MS/M.Phil leading to PhD
1. MS/M.Phil or Master Degree or 4 years education after HSC/A Level.
2. Minimum CGPA 3.00 or 70% marks in semester system or 60% marks in annual system from HEC recognized institutions.
3. Not more than two 2nd divisions and No third division throughout the academic career.
4. GRE (General)/GAT with minimum 50% score.
General Criteria:
1. Pakistani nationals including AJK, FANA/FATA and Northern areas.
2. Maximum age by closing date of application is 45 years.
3. Minimum 3 years of service at IUB.
Documents to be attached with the applications
1. CV/Resume and attested copies of all educational certificates/degrees and CNIC with 3 most recent passport size photographs.
2. Domicile certificate.
3. Valid GRE (General)/GAT certificate.
4. NOC from employers for in-service candidates with experience certificates and other relevant documents.
5. Brief description of research proposal comprising of 1500-2000 words with two letters of reference from academic/research supervisors.
Selection Procedure/Terms & Conditions
1. Only short listed candidates will be called.
2. Visa arrangements will also be the responsibility of selected candidates.
3. Selected candidates will commence their studies overseas from fall semester 2010 or spring 2011.
4. Selected candidates will be required to execute a bond to serve IUB at any of its campuses for a period of 5 years after successful completion of PhD.

Scholarships Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (Stipends)
Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal have intimated that education stipends are provided to poorest of the poor students having proven brilliant academic record and studying in government institutions. The stipends to the deserving students are being paid as per following details:

The Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) further intimated that :-
1. The education stipend and boarding charges for the students of primary and high school level are being paid for uniform, books, stationary and tuition fee, in favor of student’s parents while education stipend & boarding charges for post-Matric students are paid to the concerned institution.
2. All payments are being made through crossed cheque only in favor of the Head of the institution.
3. Students of M.Phil & PhD are not eligible for Individual Financial Assistance (IFA) education stipend
4. The students seeking education stipend out of PBM funds are required to submit application along with academic testimonials and bonafide certificates to the nearest Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Provincial / Regional Office or Head office H-8/4, Islamabad. These cases are got investigated to ascertain their genuineness as per eligibility criteria.
5. The deserving students are paid education stipend once a year on inception of new academic session in case of annual and semester system as well.
6. Education stipend can be provided to two members of same family at a time (within the maximum limit of Rs. 30,000/-).
7. Budget under relevant head is not sufficient to accommodate each and every case; therefore, the cases are being processed by PBM on first come first serve basis.
